About Christ University

Christ University which was formerly known as Christ College, an autonomous institute affiliated with Bangalore University, was established in the year 1969. Since the year of its inception, the university has gained higher heights and has continuously strived to provide better holistic education to those in need. With changing time, the university has kept a track of the competitive world and has come up with modern and innovative curriculum with the help of its dedicated and creative staff. Christ University has earned many badges of honor on its shoulder with the lapse of time, such as:

- Christ University was the centre of education being accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in Karnataka.

- It was later reaccredited as the first institute in south India by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) to be given an A+ grade.

- In the year June, 2006 Christ University was identified as an institution for potential excellence by the University Grants Commission.

The university being selected by the urban arts commission of Bangalore as the best campus consecutively for four years speaks for itself that college has all the modern amenities in use for the students such as fully air conditioned seminar, conference and assembly halls, panel room, health club and hostel facility for students along with lush green gardens. Other than the above mentioned, one of the main attractions of the university is its air conditioned auditorium with a capacity of 2000 seats. This auditorium is used for the frequent departmental and institutional programs being conducted by the university.

In order to broaden the knowledge base of the students the university also has a department of publication which publishes four journals twice in a year which are:

Artha – A journal with a focus on Social Sciences
Mapana – A journal with a focus on Sciences
Ushus – A journal with a focus on business management
Atna – A journal with a focus on tourism studies

These publications are mainly focused towards research and review articles, scientific papers and interviews and profiles of people from different colleges, universities and research organizations in and abroad India. Christ University runs with 40 departments offering courses in diverse areas of study ranging from engineering, history, journalism, philosophy, law, theatre, tourism, science, physical education etc.

The university also has Kengeri campus situated on the Mysore road 10 kms. outside Bangalore which is spread across 75 acres of lush green land, equipped with modern sportive facilities and is the centre of other educational institutes of the university such Christ University’s Faculty of Engineering, Christ PU College and Christ University Institute of Management. Making the use of modern Information technology facility the university also provides online counseling facility which acts as a helping tool to candidates seeking admission in Christ University located in far off places. Dr. Thomas C Mathew, the current vice chancellor of the university is committed towards the vision of excellence and service to be delivered to the students for their holistic development.
